Olympia Junior Programs is a fully volunteer driven, non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference, so volunteers from our community are a vital part of the success of the program. We are always looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team and build on the behind-the-scenes operations that keep OJP running smoothly.
Below are a few documents to download and share! Each one provides more detailed information about being an OJP volunteer.
There are several ways community members, parents, and other interested individuals can help with the continued success of this program…
- Serve on the board or join one of our committees. You may contact our communications and membership board member for more information–ojp.communications@gmail.com.
- Serve as the “School Representative” for your child’s elementary school. This position serves as a direct liaison between your student’s school and OJP. The school representative attends two to three scheduled meetings, provides attendance date/time information to the school, and recruits parent volunteer theater ushers.
You can find detailed information about being an OJP School Representative by clicking “Volunteer School Representative“. - Volunteer as a “Theater Usher” during one or more of the shows. Ushers are parents and other community volunteers who assist the students getting on and off the buses, escorting them to their assigned seats, and observing or assisting during the performance.
You can find detailed information about your responsibilities by clicking “Volunteer Theater Usher“. - If you are interested in either of these positions, contact the office at your school to get started.
Below you will find information that is helpful for all of our OJP Volunteers.
- All volunteers need to check with their school to ensure they have fulfilled any requirements to be a volunteer for their school/district. Even though you are assisting the OJP program, you are technically volunteering through your school/district.
- All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
- Please do not bring other children with you to the performance.
- The Washington Center requires that ushers wear closed toe, low heeled shoes. You’ll be standing during the whole performance so comfort is important.
- Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to the Washington Center and for parking costs. For directions to the Washington Center, click here.
- Make sure to allow time to find a parking spot, the Washington Center does not have its own parking lot. Parking is limited to the streets and City of Olympia parking lots. If you choose to part at a meter, It is recommended that you park at a meter that allows for at least 3 hours.
- You may end up parking a ways from the theater so you’ll want to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
- You may refer to the “City of Olympia Parking Services” website for detailed information on parking options.
- You may also download the “Pay by Phone” app on your phone to pay your meter with a credit card. Make sure to download the app ahead of time so you can register your vehicle and add your credit card.
If you have any questions or need any further information, you may leave any questions/comments with your contact information by using the “Contact Us” form. Thank you for supporting our program!
